What is Tippy?

 

Tippy is an all-in-one tipping solution that gets tips directly from clients to the provider instantly. Tippy allows those tipping to have a personal connection knowing their tip is going directly to the appropriate person(s).

Two swipes for those who are paying for the service and tip by credit card.  One swipe for Meevo to pay for the service and one swipe in Tippy to pay for the tip.

Script for Front Desk

"We have a new system called TIPPY for adding your gratuity when you use a credit card for your services.

Using this new system allows our providers to receive their gratuity instantly. There is a small convenience fee of 2.8%.

Cash gratuities are always welcome if you prefer".

Why the change?

As As a small business, we’re always balancing expenses carefully. This change helps us stay sustainable while supporting our team. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Scenarios

Cash: If the client is paying cash for the service and tip then Tippy is NOT used.

Credit Card: The rule of thumb is if the tip is by Credit card, then Tippy will always be used!

GC & CC: If the client is paying for the service with gift card but doesn’t have enough on the gift card     to include the tip then they will need to use Tippy to leave the tip by credit card.

GC & Employee Acct:   Gift card transactions and Employee Transactions that go onto the employee’s account will not use Meevo Tips, they will be run through Meevo as normal.  Only transactions where the client is paying by credit card only will be run through Meevo Tips. 

Gift Card: If the client is paying for the service and tip with a gift card then Tippy is NOT used.

Gift Card: If a guest uses a gift card to cover both their service and gratuity (for example, $100 in services and $25 in tip), the gratuity would be added manually to the ticket in Meevo, and the client would check out using the gift card as the method of payment. Since this transaction does not run through Tippy, the tip would NOT be paid out instantly to the provider (in case the provider asks).

Card on File:  If the client asks to pay for an appointment for another client with card on file, the FULL transaction will go through Meevo NOT Tippy because card is not present.

* Each transaction includes a small fee to the client leaving the tip, allowing us to directly deposit funds at lightning speed to the provider!  The convenience fee is 2.75% + $0.50 of the Tip Amount.

 

How to ring up

  1. Process service in Meevo for clients without TIP line in transaction

  2. Pay now in Meevo by credit card

  3. Client will hand you credit card

  4. Give client back credit card

  5. Select service provider or providers in Tippy

  6. Enter full value of the service amount before tax for each provider that client is paying

  7. Tap “Tip Away”

  8. Turn Kiosk toward client

Client:

  1. Client chooses suggested amount or enters tip amount they choose

  2. Client taps “Tip Away”

  3. Client inserts or taps their credit card

Tip Only transaction

Yes! If wanting to check out a client in the register who only needs to leave a tip for an employee, but someone else paid for the service (spa parties?). 

  1. Put clients name in register

  2. Add tip (Lower left hand corner of register)

  3. Employee specific tip tab

  4. Enter name of provider

  5. Add tip amount

  6. Pay now

  7. Tippy Kiosk will be prompted to finalize sale

  8. Client will swipe credit card to pay in kiosk

 

Refunding Tippy?

Refunding tips are done in two steps, through Meevo and the Tippy Dashboard. By refunding through Meevo, you get the refund back to the client, and by refunding it in the Tippy Dashboard, you get the money back into the business. When you complete the Meevo refund, you will get a pop-up reminder to head over to the Tippy Dashboard to finish your refund. There are a few additional things to note:

  • If you refund a Tippy Tip, any associated Tip Convenience Fees are also refunded to client.

  • Voiding same day is also an option, as it is simply reversing the Tippy Transaction.

Trouble Shooting Tippy

The tippy Kiosk passcode: 123456

The Company Password: V6W813DG

If Fusion loses internet and you cannot get Tippy connected on the kiosk, you can choose who to send a code to anyone listed on Tippy screen.  Choose someone who has their phone available to give you the code, either a manager or provider.

 

Tippy will not display to leave tip:

If power goes out Tippy may ask you to send a “verification code” when you choose a provider to tip for the first time using Tippy after power was out.  Push “send code” button and you can choose any provider or manager that is available to give you the code immediately.  Tippy should then run smoothly as soon as they get email or text and you enter the verification code they were sent.
